This sketch of winter is mildly based on a Bryan Hitch illo of Rachel Summers from Uncanny X-Men, the -1 issue, I think. I like this because it gives Winter a bit of a tomboyish sort of look, which really suits her. She wasn't overly girlygirly, I'm sorry to say. And yes, she was startled she impressed gold too. She wasn't expecting to impress at all. This is Winter in one of her more peaceful times, probably not too long before the hatching in question. It certainly can't be her after she'd taken on the role of Weyrwoman at Ierne Weyr, because Sh'drian drove her completely mad with his arrogant posturing and disrespect for her authority.
