In many ways, I consider this piece of art my best ever. All the things I don't like about it (and there are few) are all tiny quibbles, such as the shading of his robes. The rest, magnifique. This image started life as a still from the 'deleted scenes' in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone DVD, where Snape is writing something and staring at Harry right after insulting him in front of the whole class for the first time. Snape's face here is all Alan Rickman, and I think I captured the actor's face and eyes the best I've ever done a portrait. since the image was supposed to be Snape as a student, I took away many of Alan's age-lines, put in an ear that isn't quite Alan's in proper shape. I also had to redo his hair, giving him more of a comic book or anime-style hair, but for once, I really like how the hair came out in terms of shading, proper lines to denote shadow and lack of lines for highlights. I could just stare at this image all day long and marvel at the fact I did it.
