This is a pair of pictures I made for the Laughter is a Powerful Weapon, Vol. 2 CD that I co-produced with Grant Bacoccio of Throwing Toasters. The CD was produced for Hurricane Katrina relief and proceeds of its sale from FunnyMusicians.Com go to the American Red Cross. The one on the left shows how it would have been if it had been the CD cover, the second one shows the tracklisting as if it would be the back of the CD. Grant chose another artist for the CD, which I didn't take well at the time, but it's eventually cool, cos this was a homebrew, rather than a professional job. Still, I rather like it as a piece of art. The three figures were drawn and inked by hand, then I photoshopped the hell out of the rest. The music staff is real music and follows what I know of musical notation and is available for view on another page here. I rather like the basic concept these images represent... New Orleans Mardi Gras colors, music holding back the storm, that sort of thing. The guitarist and clarinetist were both totally original poses. The saxophonist was vaguely based on an M&Ms dispenser I have of the Blue M&M holding a sax, mainly cos I couldn't figure out the angles on the sax itself from that angle.
